We participated in the clinical case of Pancreatic Stone Protein (PSP) as a biomarker of sepsis at the Chair of Clinical Pathology of the Hospital de Clínicas.
This test of Abionic A fast, single-use in vitro diagnostic system achieves reliable and early detection of sepsis, allowing treatment to be started up to 72 hours earlier than with PCR or PCT.
5 minutes and a drop of capillary or venous blood is all that is needed, thus obtaining a great window of opportunity for clinical management of the patient.
The presentation showed a clinical case in which the PSP was positive, the PCT was negative and 72 hours later the patient's sepsis diagnosis was confirmed, while in a second patient the PSP result was negative and the person later had a positive evolution.
This activity was coordinated by Prof. Agdos. Dr. Ignacio Aramendi and Dr. Anna Barindelli, and presented the case Asist. Dr. Magdalena Manzoni y Resid. Dr. Ismael Melamed.
We are excited to incorporate this early biomarker that has such an important impact on the evolution of a patient at imminent risk.
